KARMAVEER DR MAMASAHEB JAGDALE

 

 

Nivrutti Govindrao Jagdale alias Karmaveer Dr. Mamasaheb Jagdale was born on 4th February 1903 at Sarola in Washi taluka in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra state. He belonged to the Warkari (devotees of the lord vitthal) family. His native place is Chare (Barshi) in Solapur district. His family belonged to the Warkari sect and used to do farming. All the family members became the devotees of God Vitthal. Mama received the religious and moral values and the principles of life from his father Govindrao and mother Mukatabai.

           He spent his childhood and took education upto 3rd standard in Chare.He came to Barshi for his further education against the wish of his family. He passed 7th standard examination in 1923 and Matric in 1930 through English medium. In 1931, he worked as a Supervisor in Solapur Co-operative Supervising Union. He established Shri Shivaji Boarding at Barshi in 1934 for the education of the needy and poor children who were deprived of education. He was influenced by the thoughts of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sant Tukaram Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Shahu Maharaj, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil. Today, the main office of the institution is in Barshi, Dist-Solapur.
