School of Physical Sciences

The School is in pursuit of excellence in Teaching and Research. It is actively conducting research in frontier areas. The physical science of the macro and micro worlds is being vigorously explored.
We are committed to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion. We offer exciting programmes in Outreach and Public Engagement with research. We also develop commercial and social enterprises as a means of maximizing the impact of our academic and research activities.
Since 2008, the University has adopted the School System to group together numerous academic departments under one umbrella. There are two departments under the umbrella of the School of Physical Sciences, namely the Department of Physics and the Department of Electronics Science. The Department of Physics offers a two-year master's degree in Physics with specializations in Applied Electronics, Materials Science, Condensed Matter Physics, and Energy Studies. The Department of Electronics Science offers two years M.Sc. in Electronic Science course. The Post PG research is undertaken in the form of Ph.D. in Physics and Electronics.
As central facilities, the School has a well-equipped sophisticated research laboratory with BET Surface area and pore size analyzer, Thickness Profilometer, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Apart from this, Electrochemical workstations, Programmable Electrometer, Electrospinning unit, Manual & Automatic Spray Pyrolysis Unit, Contact angle measurement unit, Gas sensor measurement Units, PCB laboratory, Chemical Vapour deposition unit, Microwave hydrothermal unit are among the other major research facilities.
The faculty is actively involved in the research and development of international and national repute. The thrust area of research are:
- Energy storage devices: Supercapacitor, Battery
- Photovoltaic devices: Solar cells, Photo-Dye degradation
- Sensors: Gas sensors, Electronic sensors
- Magnetic materials: Ferrites
- Aerogels
- Cloud computing
The school has a solid track record of receiving grants from several funding bodies, including DST-SERB, BRNS-DAE, CSIR, RUSA, and UGC. Students at this school are sponsored by a variety of national scholarships, fellowships, and earn and learn programmes in order to fulfil their goal for higher education. We have highly skilled and experienced faculty members with a wide range of specialisations. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities such as the National Service Scheme and the AVISHKAR Research Festival.
School provides earn and Learn scheem to the selected students. School provide Industrial traning for the electronics science students, SET/NET workshop get arranged for the all department final year students, verious event gets arranged and celibrated.
The School of Physical Sciences is dedicated to providing the best infrastructure and facilities to its students in order to assure excellence and excellent quality. The numerous departments provide diverse facilities for providing high-quality higher education and undertaking cutting-edge research.
