The School of Physical Sciences is a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation in Physics and Electronics. Established to provide high-quality postgraduate and doctoral education, the school brings together four specialized Departments of Physics—Applied Electronics, Materials Science, Condensed Matter Physics, and Energy Studies—along with the Department of Electronic Science. The School offers advanced M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, equipping students with a strong theoretical foundation, practical skills, and research experience. Its academic journey began in 1984 with the M.Sc. in Physics (Applied Electronics) and has since expanded to include modern disciplines addressing emerging scientific challenges.

          Housed in a modern 11,600 sq. m. facility, the school features smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, seminar halls, a library, and computational facilities, enabling cutting-edge research in energy storage devices, gas sensors, functional materials, photovoltaics, and more. Faculty research is nationally and internationally recognized, with projects funded by DST, SERB, BRNS, CSIR, RUSA, and UGC.

          The school emphasizes inclusive education, student development, and societal engagement through scholarships, industrial training, extension activities, and innovation initiatives. Its vision is to nurture globally competent scientists and innovators with strong ethical values.
